VOR/DME CBY, Grand Colombier, 12 June 2011

Wim reports the following:
Well, the route to CBY can be called touristy. The well-known two-lane roads full of bends up to the hill where the beacon is located. But then it is still twelve kilometers of zigzagging up a road with hardly a straight stretch. Because CBY is not far from the top of the Grand Colombier, at an altitude of 1500 meters. But boy, what a great view!

The Grand Colombier is also regularly the finish of a Tour de France stage. Anyone who takes one of the roads up will always come across a number of cyclists who want to experience this climb themselves.

In 2015, Wim and I went on a tour of France. Wim put this DVOR on the list for our route. And so it happened that on June 5, 2015 we had lunch at this beacon. The climate at this altitude was considerably more pleasant than that down in the valley.
