Grenoble airport is located southeast of Lyon at Saint Etienne-de-Saint Geoirs. There is a Locator beacon a few kilometers east and west, in line with the runway. When Wim drove past it in 2007, the D119 was being widened and it was not possible to get closer to the beacon.
EG is to the east and we take the D119 from the airport.
After a few kilometers on this road, the beacon is on the left behind the vegetation.
If you want to get closer, continue to the roundabout ahead,
choose the D1085 (Route de Grenoble) in the direction of Lyon.
After about 500m take the second exit on the left and at the fork take the road that does NOT lead over the viaduct.
This road bends along the D119 and runs past the beacon. See attached map.
June 5, 2015 Wim and I were on a beacon trip and headed towards Grenoble.
Because Wim had not managed to get close to the beacon in 2007, we first headed for EG. Wim wrote in his travel report:
Just like years ago (2007), the GPS, then Miss Mio and now Miss Garmin, wants us to park on the highway.
So continue to the next exit and then back to the previous exit and then search.
After some time we found a poorly paved road parallel to the highway that was fortunately passable.
The beacon was there not far from this road.
This beacon is not on the 2024 GEN 2.5 list.
Locator EG, 28 July 2007.
Locator EG, 5 June 2015.
