Altenburg NDB AUB, 2 September 2017.

Wim wrote in his travel report:
Along a beautiful route we did go to ABU (Altenburg). The beacon is placed on the airfield, but the airfield is surrounded by woods. Miss Garmin does say that we have to walk from a parking place in the wood. Yes, we will see. We drove on to the airfield, have a look around there, but no possibility to see this beacon.
There is a museum at the airfield and Johan asked there how to find the beacon. They have never met people with a hobby like ours. They told us that the only way to find the beacon is going back, then park the car and to walk about 2 km. Yes indeed, it is the parking that MG did say we have to use. We did go there and started walking. We took our handheld gps with the coördinates, so we had an idee where ABU was to find. We took a path to the left but we could just see a little of the beacon. Back to the main route and going on. Again to the left and then another path. Now we end at an old gate onto the airfield and we can see the whole beacon.
We took quickly a couple photos because they have here lots of musquitos and those always like to bite me. Then we walk back to our car. We used an hour in total.
