I did visit this beacon for the first time in May 2005.
That was before Wim had the idée for making my beacon collection into an internet site.
This year – 2009 – we had the opportunity to visit again for extra photos and to make a good sound recording.
And there is a lot changed at the airport in those years.
When you visit this airport you will notice that it was once an airbase.
Lots of the airbase buildings are nowadays refurbished into business units.
For the passenger flights there is a complete new air terminal been built.
The beacon is not to be find at the airport, but east of the runway with very easy access from the road.
Route from A40 to LMA, ca. 5.3 km – 6 min.
Take at the A57 the exit 3-Goch to the B9 direction Weeze/Kevelaer/Kalkar.
Turn right onto the B9/Gogner Strasse (follow signs for Weeze/Kevelaer/B9/Geldern) and follow the B9 for 3.1 km.
Turn to the right onto the Fährsteg/L5 (follow signs for Weeze.)
After 0.5 km turn left onto the Kardinal-Galen-Strasse/L5 and after 300 metres it turns a bit to the right and becomes the name Karl-Arnold-Strasse/L361.
Follow the L361 for 1.2 km and turn left onto the L361/Willy-Brandt-Ring.
After 500 metres turn right onto the L361/Weller Strasse and follow this road for 2.5 km (name will change in L361/Wember Strasse.)
You find the beacon at the LHS of this road.
